The owners did a lot of customization that was above and beyond the standard offering when they purchased the house. In this style house it was highly unusual to dig a full basement under all living structures. The house has been completely re-insulated with insulation blown into the brick wall cavities while the upper floor has a full cavity fill of rolled insulation with 3/4 foam board installed underneath the siding. The attics are triple insulated up to about R-40, 0r bout 18 of fiberglass roll material. The staircase cavity is filled and the wall between the garage and main house is also insulated. The garage floor was replaced about 10 years ago with a thicker pad and premium reinforcing. Many home with original floors are only about 2 inches thick while they put in a 6-8 inch pad.
